Ending the First Year of Piano Lessons

How do you eat an Elephant? One bite at a time…

After nine months of lessons, I can actually read music and play songs that bring me joy.  My daughter and teacher both told–to go fast, you have to slow down.  Zen, isn’t it.  Yet so true.  I starting using the kitchen timer to practice and focus on getting small sections correct, multiple times.  Then go to large sections, the time would fly by, rather than switching, piece to piece.  I tried to focus on timing but with the timer clicking, it is hard.  Now I am getting a metronome that also has a timer.  I am excited to start again this fall!
